Poblacion hotels & places to stay

Our stay was OK, considering we were in a windowless box. The A/C rooms don't have windows! The fan rooms do have windows, so it might have been a better choice after all. The staff were really nice, though, and it was easy to get around. It's close to the city centre, so everything is within P100 pesos by cab, or a jeepney ride away. There are better hotels in the vicinity, though, so only book this if it's really cheap on here. It might be better to just walk in because the rack rates are lower than the online rates.

There was a problem regarding check in procedures. The Hotel Management required me present the voucher or booking receipt. They only allowed me to check in after long discussion and opening of my email wherein it is confirmed that i had a booking with Agoda. I do strongly suggest that it should be arrange in such a way that valid ID will be enough to avail of the reserved accommodation.

We were mostly out of the room due to our tours. But whenever we come back, they have already cleaned the room, fixed the bedsheets, placed new towels... and best of all, our personal belongings remained UNTOUCHED. Our only concern was with the tour agency the hotel booked for us. We booked a 10hr COUNTRYSIDE tour (Phil Eagle Center, Eden Nature Park etc.,) plus CITY tour if we have remaining time. That was the agreed tour itinerary. But on the day of our tour, the tour agent told us that our rate was only for ONE Countryside and the rest is for City tour (as agreed by the agency and the hotel). We were not informed about the CHANGE of plans so we had no choice but to add Php500 just to avail the complete Countryside tour when supposedly that should have been our itinerary. Anyway, that was the only concern. The hotel amenities, location and cleanliness are tops!

The property is situated in the middle of Davao City. It is located in the Poblacion District. It is less than 400 meters away the busy thoroughfare of JP Laurel Ave. near Victoria Plaza Mall. It's just near most of the city's tourist attractions. At first, the hotel was a little hard for the taxi driver to locate because it's inside a village and it's kinda new. The property is pleasant in it's glorious white paint. It's well secured by a CCTV system. The staffs were friendly, polite and helpful. The doorman even acts like a concierge to help us with our needs like transportation. The room were very clean as with its bathroom. It has a cable equipped LCD TV. Also has wifi. Bathroom has heater. Probably the only downside of the property is the lack of elevator. Our room is at 4th floor. Having a baby with us. It's hard to go up the steep flight of stairs. Breakfast was basic with egg sandwich & coffee. But no complaints for budget conscious travelers like us. Not bad for 1,200/night.

there's not really any frills about this hotel, but it was cheap and comfortable. nice enough bed, hot shower, good ac, room service, and a good breakfast comes with the stay. the food in the cafe is pretty good too. the staff were very friendly and ready to help with anything i needed. the best part for me, as a fitness enthusiast, was that i stayed on the top floor where there is a large open patio space that was perfect for me to do my morning stretches and bodyrock workouts.

Pros: budget friendly hotel Very kind and approachable owner Quiet place artistic interior Cons: Poor internet conection, u have to go out of your room to have a better conection. Room is (poorly)warmly lit. You need to open all the lights if you want to read a book. Location is inside the village. but Just a 4 to 5 minutes walk to the highway. Bonus: the owner is the mother of davao's renowed artist. Kublai. His works of art is exhibited in the hallway of the hotel where u can view it for free!

I and my partner stayed for a night only. We got the matrimonial bed since there was a good offer for the room. Matrimonial rooms are regularly priced at around Php 1500+ but we got to book it for only Php 1100. A very good deal. The staff were friendly during our stay. The bathroom was clean and hot and cold shower was available. The location is very strategic since it is located near shopping malls and city centers. We haven't experienced ordering their food since we ate at a local resto outside the hotel. If you are in the city for business purposes, you may need to bring your own wifi device since the wifi is only available at the lobby. Also, phone signals are somewhat low on our room. Having said that, I still recommend the place if you are on a budget and want a clean and peaceful place to stay.

Cheap hotel convenient.but the hotel standards are in decline breakfast service sloppy and very slow to serve.the size of food is not how it used to be .poor quantity.i been coming here for 10 years cause it's convenient for me.rooms are in need of upgrades.getting old now.just one poor blanket.bad old aircon and broken fittings.nothing seems to get done here .front desk staff all ways change now.cafe staff polite.but breakfast service is terrible.always a mix up in booking even with 4 months notice.no one seems to bother.if price is right it's ok but don't pay high price.its time I looked for a better place to stay now I can't recommend it any more.stay away from noisy third floor

I was originall going to book this Hotel but due to the previous reviews i changed my mind. I came and checked it out whilst i was staying elsewhere. For the price you will be hard pushed to find a better hotel in Davao. Its new and clean. The staff are great once they get to know you. My room faced the street which is busy but quietens down after 10pm. I think they are short staffed so they ask you to tell reception when you want your room cleaning. For the budget conscious they have fan rooms not advertised which i changed too for $10 a night for a double it is a shared bathroom which has about 5 showers but hey well worth it.still have wifi just no tv

They allowed us to check in early without additional charges, which was really nice of them. Rooms smell like old cabinet. Dark hallways. Restrooms/ showers are for sharing, located at the end of every hallway, heaters are not working, need to use a pail of water to flush the toilet. Eeerie at night. Kind of like when you're in an Asian horror flick. But it's super cheap and near Gaisano, so it's okay for backpackers or those who just need a bed to sleep in for the night.

The location is👍. Walking distance to people's park. You can do jogging at the park early morning, many people do it and it feels like home. Bank's are nearby, so if easy to withdraw if you become broke 😁😂. The city hall, cathedral, parks, museo dabawenyo are within reach by foot. Enjoy walking because it's good as exercise. Not far from the museo dabawenyo is the D Bone musuem, make sure not to miss this. Museo dabawenyo and D bone musuem has tour guide, they give very informative details. It's 👍👍. Few blocks away from the hotel is the Penong's and Saging Repablik which happen to be in my itinerary, which makes the it great place to stay. Roxas night market, pasalubong center, bankerohan market, aldhevinco shopping center and Gmall are all within reach by foot. So enjoy walking.😊👣 711 is the nearest convenient store which is 3-5 minutes walk (depend how you walk 🚶) For the price, book day before or within the day, it is much cheaper. 😊👍 Before leaving the hotel, you triple check your belongings. Because during check out they will not inspect your room. After you hand over the keys, they will just say that you're good to go. The cleans are room, during check in they have this form, you have options if you like them to clean the room or not. This makes you feel more secure that once you leave the room on day time, they will not enter without your permission. So it's 👍👍👍

We stayed in the hotel for just 1 night since we arrive late in the airport. All their standard rooms are occupied when we arrive but since we had an advance booking in Agoda, they gave us a free room upgrade. Its a cheap and practical hotel to stay in if you are going to have a city tour. Hotel still have a quiet at night even if there is a fruit and vegetable night market beside the hotel.

according to my parents, the room was very spacious. it offered much comfort for people traveling out of town. it's like a home away from home. and the bed is just enough to sleep comfortably. it's not too small, nor too big. it's just right, what one needs. and the people there were very accommodating. the room i reserved for my beloved parents was a twin bed room. but the people from the hotel even suggested and allowed my parents to transfer to the matrimonial room. overall, they enjoyed their trip to davao. and they kept on telling me, i had the best choice for the hotel they stayed in.

Zen room is located inside Alu hotel. I checked the prices in Alu hotel and the cheapest room is Php2000 but I only paid Php910 for the room I booked here in Zen room. hehehe Thank you Agoda for the vouchers. It's cheap but the room is very spacious!! My boyfriend and I really loved it because it's clean, has a huge bed and the ambiance is very relaxing. It is right in front of Roxas Night Market so it's the best! The staff are also very kind. Our room was on the 4th floor but they have an elevator :D I would definitely come back here!

this is the best budget hotel so far in davao city. hotel is ideally located in the heart of the city. considering that this hotel newly operated a few months back, it is evident that this is well managed. all staff were polite and helpful starting from the security guard, check-in counter and housekeeping. the best thing was that i was allowed an early check as i left my previous accomodation because i was not happy with the service provided. i would definitley check in this hotel next time i will be in davao.

We booked a one-night stay at the Ponce Suites Gallery Hotel but had to move to another hotel at around midnight because an elderly member of our family found the artwork unsettling. That, of course, was by no means the hotel's fault and just goes to show that this hotel is most ideal for those who appreciate all things out of the ordinary. The walls of the corridors are covered floor to ceiling in photographs, paintings and sculptures. Not everyone may appreciate the artwork, but the experience of seeing them and how they turn the entire hotel into an art gallery is in itself engaging. The rooms are spartan but at the price they are offered at with breakfast included in the room rate, it is all beyond reasonable. Front desk staff may seem a tad shy but they immediately attend to guest's needs. The owner's sister responded to our email inquiries and she was a delight to correspond with. She even gave us a free room upgrade. Pizza at the restaurant was served with slices of Davao sausages, a flavor profile as unique as the hotel itself. All things considered, value for money is beyond compare.

Our stay in the hotel was very good. The staff were really helpful to us. When we needed directions to or suggestions for tourist spots, they were very knowledgeable. The room was big and comfortable. The sheets and towels were clean as well as the bathroom. There's internet through WiFi but inside the room, the signal was not that strong. I noticed that the router was placed at one end of the hotel while our room was on the other end. I suggest to place it centrally so all the rooms get a good signal. The hotel does not have it's own restaurant but they have a affiliate restaurant nearby where you can have your breakfast. Or you can also have it delivered to your room. Also you can opt for a fastfood delivered as well. A bit off with our stay was that there were only two free breakfast when there were three of us. I'm not so particular about the meal though but just a heads up to those who are planning to stay at the hotel. The location of the hotel is good. It's near People's Park, just a 5-minute walk. The hotel is quite new and not all taxi drivers know about it. Just remember the street and you're good to go.

The staff is friendly and helpful. Our initial room has dimmed lights so we asked to be transferred. They were booked solid due to kadayawan event but were able to transfer the following day to a much better one. Love the convenience as it is walking distance to shopping, food, and City Hall. The only thing the owners should change are those dim lights. Replace it with bright ones because it was hard to open our luggage (TSA with codes). Also very straining to the eyes. Another one is the parking. If they clear some of the items on the side it may be easier to get out. Other than that if you don't have a vehicle, plenty of taxis and jeepneys.

Best part about this hotel are the very kind and accommodating staff. Even the guard is friendly. Only issues I had with the single Elizabeth Taylor room are: 1. Bathroom was rather small. There is no partition between the toilet and the shower area, so once you take a bath, you have to contend with a wet bathroom floor for the rest of your stay. Bring toiletries as only a small bar soap is provided. 2. Wi-fi is a bit weak inside the room but it's manageable

The pool is at the Annex building, and far from our rooms in the Main building. Those who checked-in at Green Heights are not free to use the pool. We were only given 50% discount per head. The staff are approachable and accommodating. We are happy with their service. The receptionist is awesome! It is a budget-friendly place. You get what you pay for. It is an old building with aged rooms and CR. The family rooms we got were large and spacious. The aircon in our rooms were old and noisy. WiFi connection is weak, better bring your own pocket wifi. I am satisfied with their free breakfast. They will ask you what time you prefer it served. I have witnessed a group served breakfast at 6 am. :) The main building has no elevator and ground floor rooms. You'd have to walk-up the stairs. It is located along the busy national highway and it's a little far from the downtown (city center). There are no fastfood chains, malls, and coffee shops nearby.

Pros: very spacious rooms (family and suites room), accessibility, cheap and budget hotel, relatively clean, security, lobby with hot and cold water, coffee available instantly, very homey environment Cons: Check in is 3pm onwards (they dont allow early check in but u can drop ur luggage at the reception), very poor t.v. signal, hot shower not consistently hot, kinda low water pressure in the morning, so-so beddings and linens Overall it was great for its price.

For first time traveller in Davao, Bahay ni Tuding is one of the best place to start with, situated in Poblacion and is walking distance away from City Hall and other popular places in the City. The place is decent and well kept with classic and welcoming feeling. Tried the famous yougart which is included in the breakfast. Only stayed for one night but I will definitely stay again if I will go back in Davao!
