Malapascua Island hotels & places to stay

Our stay in Ocean Vida was flawless and a great experience. We are no divers so we plainly enjoyed the clean beach, the hotel and restaurant and Malapascua island itself. We had the sea view deluxe room which provides a big room with air conditioning, a fan and a fridge (mini bar) plus a fairly big bathroom with shower and toilet. The stuff was always friendly and did their best to make our stay a great experience. Likewise Søren, the manager who welcomed us on our arrival, gave us a briefing about the hotel and its amneties and confirmed when ever we met if everything was alright. Compared to Ocean Vida, the other hotels on the southern part of Malapascua seemed rather lifeless. Well it was September, so off-season, but still they didn't have the flair and the beach in front of them was hardly taken care off. When there is a chance, we definitely will come back in the near future. A few recommendations and information for future visitors: - The wifi reception in the rooms is very poor to unavailable. I would recommend getting a prepaid traveler sim card from globe since the mobile reception on the islannd is very good. - It is possible to rent single or double seated kayaks (not stated here or on the homepage) - Furthermore there are two paddle surfing boards available. So even if you are not interested in diving, Ocean Vida is the place to stay!

Blanco Beach is a new very beautiful spotless property in wonderful Malapascua island. Its italian owner Andrea is very helpful and friendly. We had some problems reaching the island because of the weather conditions and Andrea kept us updated with the situation and help us find alternative accomodation. It is defenitely the best place to stay in Malapascua with its access to two beaches and its terraces seaviews.

Had an excellent stay at this resort. Offers diving and snorkelling for those interested. Also has a huge pool and two smaller ones. Not sure if any other resort on the island offers pools. The water in the pool was unbelievably hot! The resort is right on the beach. Our room was along the side in the garden at the back. Possibly the longest walk you'll have to the sand and beach is about 30 metres. The water in the sea too is very warm and crystal clear. Like a dream! Malapascua Island is still not the most "touristy" of places so it's great for a few days of sun, sea and relaxation. Not so busy. There are many bars along the beach for relaxation, dinner etc. Try Ocean Vida and the excellent Craic House too. Both next door to the left and right of this resort. We also stayed at Ocean Vida. The one "plus" that this place had was a TV in the room with many channels available. But that might not be necessary for everyone, of course. Both resorts have their advantages I suppose.

Good place as we wanted serene and quiet location ...they maintain good cleanliness we got our room upgraded free to Villa, which added to our comfort during stay. We found food to be better than expected as has good options for vegetarians. Like to give a tip - if you are taking boat from Maya Port to Malapascua island try to negotiate, with boat captain to drop you directly at Thresher Cove resort beach, if will be very convenient if you are with family and kids or bigger group with luggage as well.

Definitely one of the best places to stay on Malapascua Island. Really polite hotel staff all around and they even upgraded me and my girlfriend to the honeymoon suite free of charge. A really good and varied food menu and not too expensive compared to other places on the island. The only thing I have against this resort is their dive shop. I went in to try and book some diving but the female member of staff working in Exotics’ dive shop was so rude, useless and didn’t really know how to talk to customers. Evolution diving right next door were awesome. All in all, this is a brilliant place to settle down of a night and would definitely book again if I was to ever visit a second time.

We LOVED our stay at slam’s garden! We booked 4 nights and then ended up staying 9 once we got a taste of how comfortable it is . The facilities ( room , pool , grounds , etc ) are pristine and inviting . We spent several days at the pool meeting lots of other travellers who were also enjoying the great atmosphere. The staff are all super nice and accommodating . The breakfast that is included is amazing ! You can order off of a breakfast menu with tons of options so you can change it up each morning. The dive centre attached is also excellent . We did lots of diving with them during our stay . They are cheaper than other places on the island , have brand new equipment , a very nice boat and excellent dive masters to show you around the brilliant underwater world around malapascua We’ve walked by every other resort on the island and I’d be surprised if there is a better option than Slam’s ( especially if you want a pool as part of the experience).

This hotel is one of the more affordably priced hotels in Malapascua island, really a good choice. Staff are friendly, rooms are always cleaned (daily), food choices are varied. They offer free breakfast and you can choose any type of breakfast you want (continental, american, chinese, asian etc). The rooms are big enough and the bathrooms (no hot water) are nice. Wifi available at the receptionist area but not in the rooms.

The resort is very simple but very nice, it is right in front of a nice white sandy beach, and we were lucky enough to get the first room overlooking the ocean, literally 20 meters from the sea. In the morning there are small boats on the beach to take the divers, but after 9am all the boats leave and the beach is basically empty and much more enjoyable. The restaurant in the resort was good, the staff was nice and friendly, there were many diving options, but we decided to avoid diving because we were both beginners and my wife was a bit afraid, we will try it next time for sure. There are nice spots for snorkelling but there is not much more to do in the island, beside diving and sunbathing. Overall we had a very nice stay and I will recommend Malapascua island and this resort to friends.

This hotel is FAR away from the city so think more before proceed booking. We arrived Cebu airport at 2 PM and went for lunch near the airport (the driver was arranged by hotel and he was very nice), we arrived the Maya Pier at around 7pm and have been told that the waves are too high so we need to stay in Cebu side for 1 night. I have to paid for the night stay in a cute and clean small apartment while for sure the payment i have paid to the hotel will not have any refund. We safely arrived the hotel next day morning with around 1 hour boat ride and went for diving the same afternoon. Great dive shop (hotel dive shop named Dive Society) i have to mention, with great diving master that can take care all your needs. Both of us (2 of us) were holder Advanced Open Water certificates already so booked for guided tour looking for the Thresher Shark and White Tip Reef Shark. Jera, the diving master, was the best we have ever met! He is good at finding good spots and location with a lot to see! we successfully found both sharks and mark an unforgettable experience here in Malapascua!! Anyway, the hotel was also cute and clean. The restaurant served great food which my friend, which is a vegetarian, also enjoyed her stay here! Must try their pizza and the traditional Mango dessert!! To be honest we didnt even walk out the hotel during our stay here (4 days) except the dives!! We were so sad that we needed to leave this beautiful island and hotel and will definitely come back!

I highly recommend the Caruzo Room - spacious, well-equipped, bright, cozy, comfortable with a lovely balcony facing the sea. There's room service every morning. Great food at the little Italian restaurant below - love the pizza and the mango shake. Breakfast set was small in portion, though (it would be nice to have larger portion with a bit more variety; eg. full breakfast set). Staff was friendly and attentive. Thanks to Ranjit who walked me to the Bounty Beach to look for a suitable boat leaving back to Maya. Few things to note: 1) Prepare to practice your negotiation skills with the boatmen between Maya and Malapascua Island (to & fro). The standard price is 80 pesos per person each way, but there was no enforcement. The weather was windy & rainy when I was there, a reason they used to increase the price. I paid 240 pesos from Maya-Malapascua, and 550 pesos from Malapascua-Maya. 2) The resort used to enjoy free access to a beautiful private beach behind it, however it now belongs to another resort. 3) Wifi was either very weak or faulty.

I had a real fabulous stay in Cocobana Beach Resort! The rooms are clean and they clean the room every day. It is a very quiet place on malapascua and you can relax as well. I had a nice view too the beach. I was alone on my journey and during my stay at Cocobana i got very sick and had fever. The staff are very friendly and kind espacially Maimai from the reception and Janet the massage girl. They made me everytime Kalamansi tee and they took care of me. I am very greatful to them. They supported me from every point of view

blue corals beach resort gave me the best stay ever. i paid a very reasonable price of experiencing malapascua in just 2 days. the crew of the hotel are very welcoming and accommodating. for other tourists, please take note that some crew are a little bit shy but they're trying their best, i promise! i also had a free ride to cebu city. the owners spirits are amazing! what a very kind family. tip: take room #4 facing the beach. the view is fantastic! you can even drink in the veranda when you decide not to go out at night.

Little Mermaid Dive Resort --Lodging + Dive Center-- is the best place to be for seeing the Thresher Sharks on Malapascua Island. The Dive Resort is situated at the beach, making for easy stepping into the ocean. The rooms and linens are clean, with a Mosquito net (needed ! ), hot-water-shower, and a comfy bed. I chose a FAN room to save money, and passed the night being damp, wet, with the humidity and warmth ! The restaurant serves wonderful fruit shakes and fruit juices, and the meals I had there were all GOOD... I especially recommend the Mango Pancake for breakfast ! The staff is courteous and smiling; there is a wait for the food, and it is worth it. The Dive Center offers perhaps the LEAST EXPENSIVE dive rates of Malapascua, and that's INCLUDING GEAR ! Each early morning starts with a dive for the Thresher Sharks -- easy to get to, just a little deep, requiring a Dive Specialty or AOW certification. There are also two dives done after breakfast (bring your own lunch) The Instructors and Divemasters are quite knowledgeable re the dive sites. The whole staff and boat crew are helpful, courteous, and humorous, yet keeping safety and professionalism first. I definitely recommend Little Mermaid Dive Resort to all coming to Malapascua Island -- divers or not !

Starlight is located right where most gather for food at night. One would think it would be nosy but it’s not. Two sister and the staff are friendly and informative. The resort is open and breezy. We stayed in the standard room, hot shower, towels, great shampoo, conditioner and soap. A plus was a safe and definitely enough space for two people. We enjoyed our balcony to people watch and take in Malapascua. If I return to this island I definitely will stay here again. Malapascua Starlight Resort- Thank you for your hospitality!

A very basic resort. This resort is a bit further away from the main tourist areas of Malapascua Island. We actually enjoyed the walk from the main tourist areas to our accommodation. It was nice to actually explore the island this way. The rooms are very basic, however this is no problem given most of the time you are going to be out anyway. The breakfast was nice but nothing to write home about.

I had an incredibly memorable stay here on Malapascua while solo travelling. The girls here managed to get all the guests to become friends straight away, by inviting us to the beach on the north side of the island- and then later on we played drinking jenga (hilarious, you have to try it) with jugs of rum and coke and went out together and kept exploring the island together over the next few days. We went to the disco and to karaoke, and they showed us all around the island. Definitely the cheapest hostel on the island, but excellently located, just next to the marker which had good, cheap food. Hostel had a stove, sink and kettle + cooking utensils & pots, and loads of cups, plates and cutlery so easy to make/heat your own food too. Such a good place, I would come back to Malapascua just to visit this hostel again and see my friends! Nilma & Divina are hilarious, and the absolute best hosts! Cheers guys!

We stayed 3 nights at Mr.Kwizz. The hotel is off the beach but the beach is only a 2 minute walk. The staff are really lovely as it is a family run business. The room is simple and bright, all you really need as you don't spend a lot if time in the room. The only downside are the chickens/roosters which keep you up all night but that can't be helped as its a very small island. It's part of the culture so you just need to embrace it. Malapascua is mainly a diving island so hotels along the beach are expensive. Mr.Kwizz offers great value for money which leaves you with more the spend on diving. I recommended staying here as its super laid back and affordable.

Hotel is new, clean and relatively small. Malapascua is an island without proper roads (no cars), just very tiny sand streets. everything (restaurants, shops) is at the beach. the location of this place is 30 min by walking from the beach thru the jungle. no lights. you cant buy anything in the hotel. we were absolutely shocked how far away it is. absolutely not possible to enjoy your stay. if you want to rent a motobike you will need some days to get a feeling pf the right way to the beach and you will get lost a couple times. Owner should offer free pickup and return service from the port. should at least sell water at the hotel. for 50$ its way too expensive! we checked out after 1 night and started looking for an other place at the brach.
