"Anyone who has stayed at the Waterfront properties in Cebu will find this property very reminiscent. Aside from the casino, the rooms and layout have a similar feel. We booked a superior room and found it to be very spacious and elegant. The housekeeping staff were very accommodating in our requests and the staff very pleasant. The gym needs to be modernized but any drawbacks are nullified with a hot sauna and swim. All of those facilities are in close proximity of each other. The hotel is an older establishment and resonates a rustic style of elegance. The management is accommodating and attentive to any issues. The Grand Regal is in walking distance to SM mall which was quite impressive. It is also close to the wharfs and airport. We have been traveling around the islands for a couple of months and the Grand Regal is certainly our choice when in Davao. "

"Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao, still amazes me after all these years. But what I would like to highlight in this review is the honesty of the staff, housekeeping in particular. Id been their guest last Dec. 14. Somehow Id left my old sports watch somewhere in that hotel. Called them after almost a month and voila! It's there. Small things like that could have been easily disregarded, after all it is just a watch but their staff are honest. I am now convinced more people in Davao City were truthfull and honest. Anyways, Insular hotel is a living witness to Davao City's metamorphoses from the old provincial hacienda to urbanized oversized barrio it is now today. I say oversize barrio because it seems like everybody knows everybody by 2 degrees. The hotel still commands romantic nostalgia of beautiful gulf front and tropical breeziness. You could actually lay back under its coconut garden on a spotless green. Food were excellent and varied. It is truly a great hotel for its value. Ive enjoyed my stay, tho it is business in nature, i did sprawled in tropic paradise."

"I love Microtel Davao becauseof its hospitality spirit among the people working there. All from security guards to cleaning boys were extremeley polite and nice. The best point of the hotel is its location. So you can feel the colors of Davao even without lot of moving around, nice restaurants around, junkie food also or Filipino snacks. My favorite actually was a Vietnamese that we tried fried crab and duck both of them superb. I think is an excellent choice for its money if tehy had more amenities it could easily upgrade to 4-5 stars. Thanks for your hospitality. Georgios and Panos GREECE"

"All the staff - from the frontdesk, housekeeping and security - were all very accommodating and friendly. It is a business hotel yet and we noticed during our stay that they have conferences from different business clients everyday, yet we didn't hear any noise from our room. Internet connection is strongest when at the reception area. Location is not a problem. SM Lanang Premiere is just a 5-minute jeepney ride from the hotel. Even the Davao Museum is just a short ride. There are also a few restaurants within walking distance if you prefer food other than what is served at the hotel. "
