Everything was fresh and delicious, and the attentive staff ensured that the dining area was always clean and well-stocked. It was the perfect way to start each day! My husband and I spent 2 nights in Dorset and were very disappointed with a number of things. Firstly, I had requested for a King sized bed, and felt cheated when their version of a King sized bed is in fact a basic Queen sized bed. This seems like false advertising to me. That’s not all, the coffee machine was not cleaned and the coffee pods were not replenished. The bath tub didn’t look like it had been cleaned either. The comforter had a large rip on the mouth causing the feathers to fly out- something we only found out the next day when our room was being cleaned. That too was overlooked until i highlighted it and insisted it be changed. The additional padding they placed on the bed was not strapped onto the bed properly because the straps had ripped and no one thought to get them stitched back. This made sleeping very difficult and uncomfortable as the padding kept moving about at night. Not to mention the AC setting that kept resetting to 21.5 degrees even when we lowered the temperature because it became really hot at night and both of us found ourselves sweating. But what mortified me the most was being walked in on while I was changing, by the cleaning staff who didn’t have the decency to knock on our door, but instead use their key card to enter the room. Their reasoning was that they were instructed to clean our room, thinking we were the ones who were supposed to checkout. Even so, the proper procedure would be to knock on the room door. That explained the lack of cleanliness in our room. Complaining to the front desk made no difference. The lady looked at me puzzled and said she would speak to the relevant supervisor and that was the end of the conversation. No supervisor came to see us. Another disappointing experience was the breakfast buffet. This was an absolute disaster. The breakfast cost RM50 each and for that price it was depressing. The prawn noodles had no prawn toppings, the taugeh was not fresh and was smelling, and this was an all self service station. No one to assist. The cooked food such as the noodles was dry, did not look fresh, and lacked flavour. The Bok Choy looked brown and dead-unappetising. The nasi lemak, while being the only item that was somewhat palatable was served with burnt sambal. No staff was attentive enough to make sure the sambal was not over burnt. Overall, the buffet didn’t cut it. I didn’t feel like I was at a hotel. The best item at the breakfast buffet was Nutella on toast. Afterwards my stomach started feeling sick and that lasted days. When we were checking out, I had requested the trolley to be sent up to help with our bags, that never came. My husband had to carry the whole load himself. Again when I complained, the same front desk lady looked at me confused. No reply by her or an apology. Upon checking with the relevant staff, I discovered that they did not even receive a notification on their phones requesting trolley service. At least the supervisor in this department was helpful and apologetic. The only other staff who did help us was Gerard. He was polite and made our check in process a breeze. He even assisted in getting some bandaids and iodine when my husband severely cut his finger while lifting our heavy suitcase from the car. All in all, we did not get our moneys worth at all. We have stayed in less prominent hotels which are value for money, have great service and good food. Dorset overcharges and under delivers, cutting corners where they can. They really need to improve on their customer service as well. This was not an enjoyable stay. No likely to return there again.
