Alor Setar hotels & places to stay

Location is good, 10mins from city centre by car. Superior room is sufficiently spacious for a king bed, writing table, side tables, ironing board, an extra bed, cupboard and a small cofee/tea making facilities. The fancy fridge was not working as expected at first, we informed the front desk and they promptly have it replaced. Bathroom was clean and spacious too. Overall, very comfortable. If I could hv 1 suggestion, perhaps there could be extra lighting units on top of the bed for an option to make the room brighter. Love the surrounding as well, Tesco hypermarket is right across the road, there are local eateries from morning till night time at the left and right of the hotel. Delicious as well. Will definitely stay here again whenever I'm in Alor Setar.

Was here for work. So near to the Airport and surrounded with sawah pagi. Such a great view. The room is super clean and the bed sheets also so wangi!! Love it!! Breakfast was good too!! Love it! The only downside is there is no food area in the vicinity which you can just walk. and theres no grabfood/foodpanda. Need to grabcar or order room service. But overall is really a pleasant stayy compared to my night before at one of the 4 star hotel in Alor Setar. :)

We were travelling back to Sungai Petani from our road trip to Thailand. We decided to stop for a night at Alor Setar (last minute decision). Too tired to drive back we randomly searched for budget hotel around Alor Setar. I made a call to The Leverage (Bandar Baru Mergong) and made my booking via phone call. However, my husband insisted that i try our luck to book via Agoda; hoping to get better price. And we were lucky we got what he wanted. When we reached the hotel, showed the receptionist copy of Agoda voucher. She noted that i did make a booking earlier, however, (i am so sorry), since i have the voucher, she took our booking and proceed with the registration with no questions asked. I am so thankful for her understanding in handling our registration. She was being very profesional and still able to give assistants in giving us direction on where to eat nearby. 5 thumbs up to that particular staff. The room, small BUT so comfortable and i love the simplicity of the room. Everything were within reach. Would come again if i ever visit Alor Setar.

booked this hotel for a stopover in alor setar - a standard room at rm90. the hotel is new and clean. room is cozy and modern and with free wifi. satisfied with the facilities provided especially the led tv that can play movie from thumbdrive and hair dryer is provided in the room ! the double room that we booked comes with a comfortable king size bed and a writing table. check-in was smooth and the staff were friendly & helpful. location wise it is strategic - right in the town centre and very near menara telekom. unfortunately we didn't have the time to visit. once arrived at the hotel, we didn't have to use the car anymore. looking for food is easy as there are many eateries within walking distance. 5 minutes away on foot is a plaza where they sell all sorts of phone and computer gadgets. all-in-all it was a pleasant stay. would stay at this hotel again on my next visit!

We went to Alor Setar to attend relatives' wedding reception & dinner for the day. It was a holiday season(3 days before X'mas), and almost most of the hotel are fully booked. We travelling with many young children, thus we had booked 3 rooms in this hotel for that night. The hotel was located in the city center, just right opposite the "Nasi Lemak Ong" kopitiam (in case you are a fan of Nasi Lemak Ong ). The hotel is old, the deco are out of fashion, but the Deluxe room is really spaceous for young children running around. The hotel staff are warm and friendly, they has helped us to arrange the 3 rooms together instead of scatter everywhere in this peak season. The best part is they have a swimming pool in the premise. The children had a great fun time at the pool before went for the wedding dinner that night. Car parking at the hotel premise is convenient which campared to other hotel that we went that night. Overall stay is very pleasant, and value for stay.

Spacious family room. The bedding (1 king + 1 single bed combined) was enough to comfortably fit the five of us (even when our two youngest children are rugged sleepers conquering the middle of the king bed). Water pressure and hot water was consistent. Clean and the staffs were very helpful. My only negative feedback would be that there is no lift. Being a family of five tends to have quite a bit of baggage. So, getting the second floor was a bit troublesome. But having said that, the front office staff did offer assistance. All in all, a very pleasant and enjoyable stay for a family first time in Alor Setar...

You can almost experience the best of Alor Setar within walking distance. Huge shopping mall, iconic tower, the legendary 'Pekan Rabu' and their good eateries, stadium, and the beautiful state mosque. The lobby however was like a sad welcome ambiance of a cheap motel and the absence of elevator was saddening because I had to watch a very pregnant woman climb 3 flight of stairs to get to her room. However the room itself was well accommodated. The room came with a beautiful view of Alor Setar TM Tower. Huge space, AC, towel, soap, hot shower, clean sheet and pillow.Pretty much your above 3* hotel stuff. On negative sides, the curtain was about to break we afraid we had to pay and injured my kids if those thing collapsed.The water pressure was so low we had to complain and resolved by the next morning. Hot water is provided for taking at the water dispenser place outside at every floor I think. A medium sized pool manned by a lifeguard is free for hotel guest which is a very huge plus for the price we paid. Made my kids happy. Parking is plenty. Surely will revisit and I saw the hotel is expanding with a new annexe. Good stuff!

This is new hotel own by Hasani Group of companies and located near Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah Alor Setar. Nearby exit highway. Basic hotel room with min aminities. and easy parking. The lobby is luxurious and modern design. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Below the hotel there were a convenient store and a halal restaurant. I definitey recommend for short stay here.....

The hotel is nice and neat. The room is big and comfortable although my room in 1st floor do not have any mirror except in bathroom (my friend's room in the 2nd floor have mirror outside the bathroom). It is close to Tol Plaza Alor Setar (PLUS highway) and close to major attractions in Alor Setar. Breakfast is provided although we opted for breakfast at outside at the famous Roti Celaru (very near to the hotel). This hotel just have 2 floors of room so there is no elevator provided.

Positive points: 1. Near highway and close to Alor Setar city center. There's a supermarket nearby. 2. Room is clean. 3. Aircond is functional. 4. Bathroom/Toilet layout is well planned. Doesn't feel cramp/claustrophobic despite the size is small. Water pressure is strong. Water heater is functional. 5. Bed is firm. 6. The hotel looks new. Negative points: 1. There is no lift/elevator. 2. The room is without mini fridge. 3. The pillow is too soft and flat. 4. Limited space for toiletries. No place to put shower gel etc. Overall, this is a no-frills, no-hassle, clean hotel. Definitely will book again in the future.

I stayed here with my family for our end year holiday and this time I'm opt for budget hotel because we will be more at outside and the hotel only for R&R.. But supprisingly I found this hotel was very attractive compared to other 3-4 star rated hotels.. The location was strategic, the parking was no issue, room are clean, toilet was superb & most of all the staff was very friendly. I've enjoyed my stay here and it is recommended for those who are looking for budget hotel in Alor Setar.. Two thumbs up for u guys at JP Hotel. Keep it up!!

Rented a triple sharing room. A very comfortable room with good bed and shower. Nice aircond and LCD TV. A walking distance to Alor Star Mall. 1 km from Alor Setar Selatan Toll (PLUS Hiway). 10 minutes drive to Alor Setar City Center. A few Tahi Seafood restaurants near the hotel operating from early evening until very late night. The only thing I not happy is this is the only hotel I have ever stay that requires all guest to take off their shoes. A bit troublesome especially for us with kids. Very clean hotel and of course very cheap.

T Hotel Tandop is strategically located in the small town of Alor Setar near the South Exit Highway. The room rate is very affordable. Room is modern, clean and tidy. I would highly recommend the newly renovated room with a little bit more $. Although the hotel is positioned at shop lot, but what more one a expect with such an affordable rate. According to some of the business people that travel to Alor Setar, this will be the best choice as it is one of the highest standard budget business hotel. There are few others modern business hotel in the town but T Hotel is just unbeatable so far in term of rate, cleaniness and the most important aspect-location.

I have asked for a non-smoking room but it seemed that the previous person smoked in the room as the pillows were covered by the smoking smell. Other than that, I would recommend this hotel for those who would like to plan for a short stay in Alor Setar! The room is clean in general, ample parking spaces, strategy location, and the price are affordable. However, you may hear noises outside of your room.
