Beautiful hideaway on private beach”

If you’re looking for a place with a quiet beach, secluded from the hub bub of the world, this place is perfect. Bottle beach only have a few bungalow guest houses, Smile Bungalows being one of them. I enjoyed my stay with them. I had my own bamboo bungalow on top of a hill where I could see the beautiful ocean through the trees. It’s bare minimal a which was fine for me, but not everyone’s preference. It’s a room with a bed, a mosquito net, and a fan. One ledge to put stuff on, no cabinets or shelves. The bathroom was clean and interesting design with shells and rocks placed in stucco. No water heater for the shower(but it’s so warm, the cool water is refreshing). I got a porch with my own hammock (favorite place to read) and two chairs and a table outside. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They have a delicious restaurant and bar with reasonable prices. A few times a week they do a BBQ and fire show on the sand. I would stay there again.

It does make you smile”

My GF has been in Bottle Beach 4 times and called it her happy place on earth. I've been there twice myself and we always stayed at Smile Bungalow. We sent them a mail telling them when we would arrive and they arranged a pick up for us at the boat. I really like Smile bungalows, they defenetly have a great staff. It's worth taking a big bungalow as they are much nicer. We had a double level one for our last stay and really enjoyed it, pretty cool view. Just be aware the electricity doesn't go all day. Something like from 6pm to 10am as I remember. They organize fires on the beach wich are cool. I recommend this place, get there and enjoy your stay.

Fantastic Beach with Excellent Service”

I could not find a bad point about smile bungalows. The bungalows are located right on the perfect beach and the views are amazing. Ther service is outstanding all the people are so welcoming and friendly - it really is service with a smile. The small fan was great as you spend most of your time outside and then afternoon brings a cool breeze which cools the bungalows down. The food is AMAZING! I only ate thai food, but could not complain of one dish. This place is so good i am going back in 4 days! I give smile bungalows a ten out of ten!

Magical location”

The best location I stayed at on a 1 month trip. It can only be reached by boat or a dirt track road. Had a really good and relaxed time at Bottle Beach. Very quiet and all you can do is relax. Cut off from the world as there is only one place with wifi. Smile Bungalows is a really nice resort. The 2-storey bungalow has a really nice bathroom, balcony and a bit of sea view. The bed was a bit musty but with this humid climate there is not much that can be done and it did not bother me much. The restaurant area is really nice and a very social space with low tables and matresses. Food was really good and the staff very nice and helpful. Had a brilliant time there! Very good value for money!

Amazingly relaxed holiday”

i stayed for 8 nights as a returnee to bottle beach. i hadn't stayed at smile before. the atmosphere is very, very relaxed and chilled. perfect if you want to unwind and switch off from the corporate world in a backpacker setting. there were quite a few families this time around throughout the whole of bottle beach and a few stayed at smile. i hope it doesn't become too family-oriented as it may spoil the vibe. i loved the staff, nin and gay are just awesome. great guys and worked really hard. the one thing to do is check your tab each day as you can overspend! also do not book your boat ticket from smile. just go it alone - it is much cheaper. i did get a bit ripped off in that sense and it but a bit of a negative on the end of a wonderful break. i will return to bottle beach and will probably stay in one of the more expensive bungalows next time. there was nothing at all wrong with my room it's just that i'll probably upgrade next time.

Location”

Comparing to the rest of this "party island" you will find on bottle beach a place to relax and calm down. And if you still want to go to the full moon party, you don't have to be worried! Smile bungalows will organize the transfers for you! I recommend this place to people who don't need the comforts of a 5 stars hotel but looking for people who like to meet other in a familiar atmosphere. I will come back! That's for sure

Lovely bungalows on a quiet beach”

When we arrived in Koh Phangnan we caught a taxi to Thong Nai Pan, as this was the address on the Agoda website. Turns out we were meant to be on Bottle Beach. We got in touch with Smile Bungalows and they picked us up within 20 minutes of the call, great service! We loved the bungalows, they were simple but they had everything we needed, and they were well kept and clean. The food is yummy and they have a great selection. They kept the beach very clean, picking up rubbish and debris every day.

Beautiful beach bungalows on Bottle Beach ”

we had a great stay @ smile in january 2012. the bungalows are just as pictured, and the location on bottle beach is one of the best i've had in thailand. the place is only accessible by long tail boat, so the mood is very relaxed. the restaurant is great, with a menu of both thai and western dishes. the staff was very helpful and accomodating. the beds are pretty hard...even by thai standards.

Low key escape on Koh Pha Ngan”

Smile Bungalows is a great alternative to the busier beaches on the island. The bungalow was rustic but comfortable, with a great private porch and separate downstairs bathroom (do door, but still private enough). Bottle Beach is for those looking to chill out for a while. There are only a few hotels/restaurants on the beach, but I didn't need anything more.

Lovely ”

Amazing cheerful staff. They make this place truly special...even informally playing with the children so that the parent guests can have downtime during meals. I prefer Smile to nearby Bottle bungalows because it's next to a forested cliff, so you get more greenery and bird and insert sounds in the morning.

Hidden Gem! Friendly staff and fantastic food!”

We had a brilliant stay at Smile! Being a travel agent myself I would recommend this property to all my customers. The owner and staff made us feel welcome and the customer care far exceeded the level we received in many 5 star hotels! We were made to feel so welcome! We was even invited for a meal with the family and staff and made to feel like one of the family. Perfect location, amazing hosts, and brilliant food! (I would recommend the cream chicken!!) it was my second visit to Smile and I would defiantly return in the future! 5 out of 5!! Dom & Steph

Best value for money”

Stayed Bottle beach bungalow 2, but changed to Smile. Was cheaper, better room and beach is better that side. West side has fewer jellyfish in sea and water is cleaner. Better to eat at bottle beach 1 A’s has better food.

NIce but, limited options”

We booked this bungalow to kind of get away from it all, and we certainly did. The bungalow was small but sufficient, private and charming. The bed is quite hard but you are supplied with a mosquito net. Some of the staff there are quite friendly while others are not. Alot of the staff is coming from Mynamar so they are quite shy. But very interesting people. I have alot of respect for them. Downside to the hotel isnt really the hotels fault its the beach. Firstly, I dont know if it was just when we were there but there is a small Jellyfish problem at the time. Nothing serious, just every so often you feel the sting, which limited me to how much I swam Secondly, due to location you have very limited dining options, and an expensive tripby boat only to Chalukolum if you want something different. There is only 4 resorts on the beach at the moment. Which means there is only 4 dining options. All are over priced compared to the town. If youre ok with this then its perfect. We were not and moved to the next beach called "coconut beach" where there is a road to the town and you can have whatever you want

nice bungalows”

We stayed in the 2 story bungalows with fan. The bedroom was upstairs and the bathroom was downstairs by way of a very steep staircase. Very clean and comfortable. Spacious bedroom and bathroom. The location was not as good as others for the same price- or cheaper- right on the beach. To get to the 2 story bungalows, you must go up a big hill and it is not right on the beach. Food at their restaurant was good but slow. If you don't mind the hike up the hill and would prefer to be not on the beach, then these bungalows are perfect.

Simple but precious stay in quiet bottle beach”

I stayed 5 nights in 2 story bungalow. it was my second time to visit Bottle beach, it is one of my favorite beach in Ko Phangan. The bungalow is very simple and clean-no hot water, no air con, electricity in the room is switched off during the day, and of course no Wifi in the room. I just had extreme chill out 5 days-wake up, beach all day, read books, fallen asleep by listening to crushing waves and all the natural sounds at night. Staff were very friendly, and they picked me up with their jeep from Bantai area. Food there is quite average... but do not expect the best, it is not cheap at all. After 5 pm, most of the day trip visitors are gone, so it is extremely quiet at the beach. There is not much happening in the evening- if you like to seclude yourself from the rest of the world, i highly recommend it!!! Otherwise.... I would suggest day trip here!

Decent bungalows on a nice beach”

The bungalows are rather small and basic (flashing the toilet with a bucket) however situated in a beautiful garden and each bungalow is not that close to others, so you can enjoy your peace & quiet.The sheets, bed & towels are clean and the fan is quiet and working very well. The beach is beutiful however not that wide especially when there is a surge and you might find it problematic to find a spot with sun as there are lots of palmtrees giving much shade. The owner is really friendly and he can arrange to pick you up if you are arriving late and there is no way to get by a boat (he didn;t charge us for the pick up however we ate a lot at their restaurant). The food there is also very good. To get ut of the beach you have to take a taxi boat which costs 100B per person.

Heavenly place. Not for party animals ”

The hotel & the beach of the bungalow is heavenly. However, the way of transportation is not good. You have to take local taxi & then long tail boat to reach the bungalow. Highly recommended for couples or family trip. Not for party animals.

Jungle retreat bungalows on the beach”

The bungalows blend in with the forest which is next to the beach. You get the shade from the trees, sounds of the waterfall and the ocean. At night you can hear the local wildlife. In the early morning go down to the rocks on the left of the beach to see families of monkeys looking for breakfast along the shore.

staff and owner not helpful nither fair”

This is not a secluded beach (even if not so easy to come there -tuk tuk 600B + boat 600B for 4 person) if you are looking for. The two storey bungalows are nice and clean and they provide a good mosquito net. Sandy beach is ok (also for children 2 & 6 years). The problem are stuff (very limited english even when very basic things communicated) and specialy the owner! We booked 4 nights via Agoda because the staff offered per phone 30% higher price as advertised by Agoda!!! On the day of our arrival it started to rain heavily and it rained for next 3 days. The third day in the morning (after two nights stay) we decided to leave the pleace as it was difficult to amuse kids whole day when raining constantly. The owner was not interested about the weather and our "problems" and explained us that we booked the bungalow and that we have to pay for it (as he had our credit card details). It happened to us first time and this is surely not contributionton to a Thailand's smile people image...
